Discovered in the early 2010s by two divers running sonar on a fishing trip, “Bud’s Steamer” is an unidentified mystery wreck. Double Action Dive Charters acquired the coordinates in 2024 to finally start putting divers on the site. To date, no identifying artifacts have ever been recovered, leaving the ship’s true name and history completely unknown.

Sitting in 163 feet of water, the vessel rests in two distinct pieces, with the bow and stern separated by about 30 feet of lakebed. The extensive structural damage and complete separation strongly suggest the boat was caught in a massive storm that literally tore it in half before it sank.

Due to the heavy collapse of the upper decks, there are no penetrable features on this wreck. The dive focuses entirely on exploring the exterior damage, the debris field, and the sheer mystery of the site itself.
