Found by Captain Keith in 2025, this wreck lies upside down in 115ft of water and measures approximately 130ft by 35ft by 20ft.
The steel hull is compartmentalized into 6 separate hopper pockets, each with its own set of thick, wood-faced double doors (roughly 8ft by 15ft each) built into the hull bottom, now facing upward since the barge is inverted. Large chain sets remain visible inside, likely once connected to the mechanism that held each pocket’s doors shut. The hull is rectangular with a slight flare from bottom to top, and a more pronounced rake at the bow than the stern. On the stern, two sets of vertical supports form a push-knee notch, built to receive a pusher tug.
The construction is riveted steel, putting a likely creation date before 1950, when welding became more popular.
The barge’s official history has yet to be uncovered and no identifying marks or numbers have been found anywhere on the vessel.
